Factorio Server Name and Authentication Token

Factorio can advertise a dedicated server in the public server browser using your Factorio account username and authentication token.

Authentication token

Factorio's documentation recommends using an authentication token rather than an account password for a dedicated server.

You can obtain your token from your Factorio account on factorio.com or from Factorio's local player-data.json file.

Treat the token as a secret. It authenticates the server to Factorio's services and should not be posted publicly.

Server username

Use the Factorio username associated with the authentication token.

Server name

Choose the Server Name you want shown in Factorio's server listing. The current Jovian server template accepts up to 100 characters.

Why the token matters

Factorio requires account credentials when a server is configured to appear publicly in its server browser. LAN-only or hidden servers can operate without those public-listing credentials.

During Jovian setup

When Game Setup asks for these values, enter the Factorio username, authentication token, and server name you want Jovian to apply. Do not enter your Factorio account password in the token field.
