Conan Exiles
Conan Exiles Server Settings, RCON, and Mods
Configure your Conan Exiles server name, passwords, RCON access, player limit, and mod IDs.
Conan Exiles uses separate settings for players, in-game administration, remote RCON access, and mods. Keeping those settings separate makes the server easier to manage and avoids accidentally giving players administrative credentials.
Server Name
Server Name is the name players see when looking for your Conan Exiles server.
Choose a recognizable name for your group or community.
Server Password
Server Password controls who can join.
- Leave it blank for a public server.
- Set a password for a private server.
- Share this password only with players who should be able to connect.
This is not the administrator or RCON password.
Admin Password
Admin Password is used for administrative access and changing server settings in game.
It is separate from the Server Password. Use a strong password and only share it with trusted administrators.
The Jovian Conan Exiles configuration allows an Admin Password of up to 20 characters.
RCON
RCON provides remote administrative access for compatible external tools.
Jovian exposes three related settings:
- Enable/Disable RCON — turns RCON support on or off.
- RCON Password — authenticates the remote RCON client.
- RCON Port — the network port assigned for RCON.
RCON is disabled by default. If you do not use an external RCON tool, leave it disabled.
If you enable RCON, set a strong RCON Password and do not reuse the player Server Password. Treat it as an administrative credential.
Max Players
Max Players controls how many players may connect at the same time.
The default is 10. The practical player count depends on your Jovian server size, world activity, and mods, so increasing this value does not automatically increase available server resources.
Mods
The Mod IDs setting accepts the Steam Workshop IDs for the mods you want the server to use.
For multiple mods, enter the IDs as a comma-separated list, for example:
123456,234567,345678
Spaces after commas are also accepted by the egg.
Auto Update Mods is enabled by default so configured mods can be kept current during server startup.
Modded servers may use substantially more memory, CPU, disk space, and startup time than an unmodded server. If you add a large mod list and begin seeing performance problems, reducing the mod count or moving to a larger server size may be necessary.
Automatic server updates
Auto Update Server is enabled by default. The server checks for updates during startup.
Updates can make a startup take longer than usual. Avoid repeatedly restarting the server while an update is in progress.
Which password is which?
| Setting | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Server Password | Lets players join a private server |
| Admin Password | Grants in-game administrative access |
| RCON Password | Authenticates an external RCON client |
Do not give the Admin Password or RCON Password to regular players.
Having trouble?
If players cannot join, verify the Server Password and confirm the server has completed startup.
If in-game administration does not work, check the Admin Password rather than the RCON Password.
If an RCON client cannot connect, confirm RCON is enabled and verify both the assigned RCON port and RCON Password.
If a mod does not load, confirm its Steam Workshop ID is correct and check the server console during startup for mod download or update errors.
If you still have trouble, contact Support with your order ID. Do not include passwords in a public post or support-ticket subject.
