Satisfactory Dedicated Server Requirements

Plan a Satisfactory dedicated server around RAM, CPU, save size, and connection setup, with clear minimum versus larger-factory guidance.

Use 8 GB RAM as a community minimum planning reference for Satisfactory, and look at 16 GB for larger saves or more than four players. A late-game factory can be demanding even when only a couple of people are online. Strong CPU performance matters alongside memory.

Those figures come from the official Satisfactory wiki's dedicated-server page, which explicitly labels its requirements as community recommendations. They aren't a developer guarantee that a particular factory will run comfortably.

What the server needs

ResourcePlanning guidance
RAM8 GB reference minimum; 16 GB for larger saves or more players
CPUA recent x86-64 processor with strong performance per core
Operating systemA compatible 64-bit Windows or Linux system
StorageRoom for the current server download, saves, updates, and backup copies
ConnectionA stable connection with the server's required ports reachable

These are server resources. If you also play on that machine, leave capacity for the client and operating system. Don't use the space needed for a fresh download as your entire storage budget.

Size for the factory you already have

For a new save, the reference numbers are a useful starting point. For a migration, the best test is the actual save.

Back it up, load a copy, and have your group work in the parts of the factory they normally use. Watch memory and responsiveness during ordinary building and travel. Keep a little growth room instead of choosing a machine that only just survives today's busiest moment.

If the game slows while memory remains available, investigate processing load before buying more RAM. Adding more nominal CPU cores also doesn't tell the whole story: the wiki notes that Satisfactory particularly benefits from strong single-core performance.

Connection settings can look like a hardware problem

A server that starts but can't be reached may have a connection problem rather than insufficient memory. The current wiki documents 7777 TCP and UDP, plus 8888 TCP for reliable messaging, as default ports. Older instructions showing only ports 15000 and 15777 are out of date for current releases.

A port is a numbered endpoint used by a program to receive network traffic. On a home server, the router and firewall need to direct that traffic to the right machine. With managed hosting, use the address and ports your provider assigns instead of changing them to match a generic tutorial.

Prepare the first session

Use the game's Server Manager to add and claim the server, choose its administrator password, and create or upload your world. Keep the admin password separate from any password you give players. The wiki's setup section walks through those steps.

Before switching your group over, confirm the intended save loaded and that another player can connect. Keep the original save until you've checked progress and saved successfully on the new server.

The Satisfactory game page shows Jovian's current configurations. Jovian can handle the infrastructure while your group handles the factory.
