Team Fortress 2
Team Fortress 2 Server Passwords
Understand player and RCON passwords for your Jovian Team Fortress 2 server.
Team Fortress 2 can use separate passwords for players joining the server and for remote administration. These are game-server credentials, not your Jovian account password.
Server password
A server password controls who can join the server.
- Leave it blank for a public server.
- Set one for a private server.
- Share it only with players who should be allowed to connect.
Game Server Login Token
The uploaded TF2 template includes a Game Server Login Token setting used for public server-browser visibility. Create the token through Steam's Game Server Account Management page and keep it private.
RCON password
The RCON Password protects Team Fortress 2's remote console. RCON grants administrative control over the game server, so use a strong, unique password and do not share it with regular players.
Do not reuse your Jovian, Steam, email, or server join password for RCON.
Which password is which?
| Setting | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Server Password | Lets players join a private server |
| RCON Password | Grants remote administrative control |
During Jovian setup
If these fields are shown in Game Setup, enter the values there. Jovian applies them to the Team Fortress 2 server configuration during provisioning.
